School Nattering

◇ First day of class for the spring semester, complete!

◇ Gonna try and study Dutch more consistently this semester. I did my Dutch vocabulary study for today, at least! And gave myself a sticker after in my little notebook for it, the one I used to use for Portuguese, since I still have a ton of stickers left over from teaching primary school kids whilst in Japan.

◇ Application date of honours course for Humanities is the 28th of Feb, so I need to either start deciding my motivation, working on my letter of motivation, or firmly deciding against it.

◇ Went to a little Japanese cafe after class, had anko taiyaki and a hojicha latte. I've missed them... It's expensive but once in a while it's a reasonable expense I think...

◇ Reading Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer in my student association. Schedule says: read the preface by the 6th, The Gift of Strawberries by the 9th, Tending Sweetgrass by the 12th, Allegiance to Gratitude by the 15th, Mishkos Kenomagwen by the 18th, Sitting in a Circle by the 21st, Witness to the Rain by the 25th, Collatoral Damage by March 1st. The preface is very short, so I've already read that much.

◇ Speaking of books, Neuromancer is due back at the library on Feb 10th, and Kraken on Feb 20th. Currently on chapter 5 out of 14 in Neuromancer. Getting there!

◇ And, compulsory reading before next class: Musango, J.K., Currie, M.P. and Robinson, B., 2017. Urban metabolism for resource efficient cities: From theory to implementation. AND Kennedy, C.A., Stewart, I., Facchini, A., Cersosimo, I., Mele, R., Chen, B., Uda, M., Kansal, A., Chiu, A., Kim, K.G. and Dubeux, C., 2015. Energy and material flows of megacities. Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences 112(19), pp.5985-5990. Both due Feb 10th. The first reading we don't have access to through the uni catalogue though so like. I really doubt anyone is going to do it. I'll do the second though, since the prof helpfully just gave us the pdf for it.

◇ I think I'll paint the Shanghai skyline for Kat as a thank you for the dolphin she made for me before she went on winter holidays. I ended up doing a painting for Benji but not for her because I was stuck on what she'd like.

◇ My notebook from last semester only has a few pages left. I need to buy another.
